It notes that though <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">torture, discrimination, imprisonment, and exile complexify the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">achievement of freedom, they can be transformed into opportunities that can<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">hasten peace. Biographical criticism, which sustains that one should pay <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">attention to authors and their historical context in the interpretation of their <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">literary works, is the theoretical approach on which this paper is premised. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">The paper ends with a conclusion that torture, imprisonment, and exile are <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">complications that can be transformed by freedom activists as strategic <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">weapons to bring about freedom for a lasting social development.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Keywords: Freedom, Torture, Imprisonment, Exile, Development.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">R\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/span><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">A travers l&rsquo;\u00e9tude d&rsquo;une s\u00e9lection de po\u00e8mes de Dennis Brutus, cet <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">article analyse les diff\u00e9rents obstacles qui rendent la libert\u00e9 inaccessible et <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">met sur place des strat\u00e9gies pour les surmonter.
