However, the social and cultural constraints imposed on females in these black communities characterized by the social construct of the male\u2019s myth has drawn, so far, much less attention. This article deals with the portrayal of male domination in the black communities of the mid-20th century in Toni Morrison\u2019s Love. It analyzes the novel\u2019s representation of the various psychological and cultural mechanisms that sustain and nurture phallocracy in African American communities. Through the literary approach of Feminism, this paper purports to make an advocacy for social equality and justice for African American females.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Keywords: African American females, phallocracy, crime, Morrison, power<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">R\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/span><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Beaucoup de travaux de recherches ont port\u00e9 sur l\u2019assujettissement <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">des Noirs aux Etats Unis. Il faut noter cependant que les contraintes sociales et culturelles de limitation impos\u00e9es aux femmes au sein de ces communaut\u00e9s noires, caract\u00e9ris\u00e9es par la construction sociale du mythe du m\u00e2le, attirent beaucoup moins d\u2019attention. Le pr\u00e9sent article vise \u00e0 analyser la description qu\u2019offre Toni Morrison, dans son roman Love, des ressorts de la domination masculine dans lesdites communaut\u00e9s. Il analyse la repr\u00e9sentation que fait le roman des diff\u00e9rents m\u00e9canismes psychologiques et culturels qui soutiennent et nourrissent la phallocracie dans ces communaut\u00e9s.
