Il arrive que les valeurs s\u00e9mantiques associ\u00e9es au signifiant soient unies par une seule intersection mais chacune d\u2019entre elles s\u2019affirme dans un contexte particulier. Dans le pr\u00e9sent article, les verbes t\u0254\u0254\u0301\u028b \u201cmanger\u201d et n\u0303\u0254\u0301\u028b\u0301\u201cboire\u201d sont pris en exemple pour d\u00e9terminer les divers emplois et d\u00e9gager le core-meaning de chacun d\u2019eux. Les donn\u00e9es analys\u00e9es proviennent de l\u2019observation directe sur le terrain et d\u2019une collecte cibl\u00e9e aupr\u00e8s des informateurs natifs de la zone linguistique consid\u00e9r\u00e9e. Il ressort que chaque verbe a plus d\u2019une dizaine d\u2019acceptions autour desquelles se d\u00e9gage un signifi\u00e9 de puissance qui sera appel\u00e9 core-meaning dans tout ce travail.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Mots-cl\u00e9s : polys\u00e9mie, acception, signifi\u00e9, core-meaning.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Abstract<\/span><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Verbal polysemy, observable in Kabiye, a Gur language of Togo, is <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">manifested by the plurality of signified for one and the same signifier. The semantic values associated with signifier are united by a single intersection, but each of them asserts itself in a particular context. In this paper, the verbs t\u0254\u0254\u0301\u028b&rsquo;eat&rsquo; and \u00f1\u0254\u0301\u028b\u0301&rsquo;drink&rsquo; are taken as examples to determine the various uses and to identify the core-meaning of each one. The analyzed data come from direct field observation and targeted collection from native speakers in the language area under consideration.
