Un int\u00e9r\u00eat particulier est ainsi donn\u00e9 aux diff\u00e9rentes figures arabe, malaise et Autre descriptives d\u2019un prototype de commer\u00e7ant doubl\u00e9 de contrebandier et, par n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de survie, de collaborateur du pouvoir colonial hollandais omnipr\u00e9sent sur le fleuve Pantai. En effet, pris ici au pi\u00e8ge d\u2019un milieu insulaire comme Sambir, Abdulla, Lakamba, Almayer, entre autres trafiquants et concurrents dans <em>Almayer\u2019s Folly<\/em>, sont tous soumis \u00e0 une condition de r\u00e9conciliation avec leur moi divis\u00e9. \u00c0 d\u00e9faut de parvenir \u00e0 ce dernier auto-d\u00e9passement, les figures les plus en vue dans l\u2019\u00e9chiquier commercial \u2013 Abdulla et Balabatchi \u2013 usurpent le discours socio-\u00e9conomique pour lui donner une dimension confessionnelle fort mitig\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mots-cl\u00e9s : Mercantilisme, commerce, contrebande, acteurs, Arabe\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>Abstract <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This article makes a judgement of the characters and key actors of a mercantilist exchange system in which all ways and means lead to profit, be they moral or material. An especial interest is given to the different Arab, Malay and Other figures descriptive of a prototype of trader doubled with a smuggler and, in need of survival, a collaborator of the Dutch power omnipresent in the Pantai river. In fact, entrapped in an island milieu like Sambir, Abdulla, Lakamba, Almayer, to name but these dealers and competitors in <em>Almayer\u2019s Folly<\/em>, are all submitted to a condition of reconciliation with their divided selves.
